Q. How does this new card protect me?
A. The QSecure chip embedded in the magnetic stripe of your card generates a unique number for each transaction. So if a thief or hacker steals your number, it is useless because that number is not good for any additional transactions.
Q. Do I have to do anything different when I shop?
A. No, SmartStripe™ cards work in all traditional magnetic stripe card readers. No special password or complicated procedures are required. You shop and pay as you always have.
Q. Is it just like the other cards in my wallet?
A. Although it looks like other cards, and you use a SmartStripe™ card just as you would any other card in your wallet, the QSecure card has sophisticated technology inside. An electronic powered chip (visible as a tiny square on the magnetic stripe) generates a unique number that traditional credit card terminals read as if it were a standard card with a new number every time.
Q. What about online purchases?
A. The first generation of SmartStripe™ cards generate unique numbers when the card is swiped through a traditional magnetic stripe card reader. For online purchases, you would use the card the same way you use your card today. Future versions of QSecure cards will have a small window where the unique number will be visible so you can use it without a card reader, such as for online, mail order or telephone transactions.
Q. How do I get one?
A. Click here to enter your email address and card issuer so you can be notified when a QSecure card is available for you.
